Thank you, DBSanW, for the charming sketch, which I believe is by the celebrated pen-ink-and-wash artist Ura Letch, whose technique is much-imitated. It's one of a series, 'Studies in Pink Velvet', and this one's entitled "Hurry Up In The Bathroom, Darling, I'm Bursting". What you probably don't know, is that the model was a descendant of the infamous female pirate Mary (Mark) Read who is the one depicted (disguised) in the first picture! What a coincidence, eh!! Or is this quiz more cunning than I suspected, and that everything in it is inter-related? I await further clues with eager interest!
