Being Friday the twentieth day of November, 2015 ...

Yes, this was the much-anticipated evening that we devoted to Children in Need ...

Paul brought along one of his few friends.

People brought along many wonderful prizes for the raffle ...

We thank everyone who donated, and particular thanks to Jane for selling raffle tickets.

So, how did we do?

We are pleased to announce that we have been able to donate £120.00 to help disadvantaged children throughout the UK.

Below is the evidence that your generosity has not been used to finance Dogsbody's extravagant lifestyle ...

OK, that was the important stuff.
Frivolous, obscure account of our doings follows:

Oh, dear - we're lost!

In spite of recent trauma and DIY surgery, Roger performed delightfully ...

John complained about having to eat green things ...

Why do I have to ...

Lynda sought to sell her labour at a rustic fair ...

There was a novel collaboration ...

We're gonna spite our noses
right off our faces.

Mike whacked a baby goat ...

Had a job and I lost it!

Angela, Paul and Roger ventured over death's river ...

... to a beautiful heaven.

Debbie reminded us thus ,,,

Children are the future.

Being Friday the 13th of November, 2015 ...

Was it that we all knew that Paul would be occupying the chair of facilitation?
Was it because many were bereft that Sir Terry, because of infirmity, would not be presenting BBC's Children in Need programme on television?
Had Laura made of public announcement that she would be making an appearance?
Was it because of rumours that Ken and Berry might be absent?

Whatever the reason, we had a near-full house consisting of 22 bodies.
Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come out and contribute to an enjoyable evening of music and fun.

Paul sang ...

I just wanna be ...

Lynda grieved after an unfortunate encounter alongside a river somewhere in Essex ...

And think on your misfortune that you brought
with your wanton will.

Laura sang of an ephemeral bloom ...

You must leave me,
Leave me lonely.

John gave us a drunken banjo-player ...

... and something about donkeys on Brighton beach.

We visited The Green Fields of France only twice ...

...

NEXT WEEK, Friday 20th November ...

Remember that we will fund-raising in aid of Children in Need.
All takings in the subscription pot will be donated, and there will be a raffle.
Here are just a few of the highly desirable prizes on offer ...

That middle book is a reprint of The Penguin Book of English Folk Songs, first published in 1959, now with a foreword
by Martin Carthy.
Wanton Seed is another reprint of songs from the Hammond and Gardiner manuscripts. It was first published under this title by EFDSS in 1965. Most of those original copies have become seriously dilapidated by constant use.
These books are 'must-have' items for any aspiring performer of traditional English folk songs.

Being Friday the 6th day of November, 2015 ...

Dogsbody undertook to go rambling no more ...

Approaching the eleventh of the eleventh, there was remembrance ...

John went travelling ...

Even a gypsy caravan  is
too much settling down.

Tony demonstrated his grave-digging apparel ...

Debbie, John and Simon took us to an historic naval dockyard ...

Phil travelled (fare-dodged!) by train ...

Can't you hear those steel rails humming?

Les gave account of a time when these magnificent beasts roamed in abundance over the North American prairies ...

Then we remembered how to get home ...

Children in Need, 2015 ...

On Friday, 20th November we will be devoting our efforts to fund-raising on behalf of the annual BBC Children in Need campaign.

(Yes, we know that the BBC's official broadcast will be one week earlier, but is there is another charitable folkie event happening locally on the 13th, So we decided to delay our event until 20th.)

The entire subscription pot for that evening will be donated.
As you all know, we usually ask for a subscription of £2.00 per head, but if you'd like to donate money of the folding variety, that would be most appreciated. (By 'folding variety' I mean cash, not cheques or other promissory notes.)

There will be a raffle.
Kindly bring any prizes that you would like to donate on the evening.

Being Friday, 30th October, 2015 ...

... or 'Halloween Eve', as Paul said.

Spooky things happened ...

Paul wandered across a body of water in very low lighting conditions ...

... with one star awake.

There was a spectre ...

Elayne took us to a cemetery ...

Berry still believes that we are a cookery class ...

A recipe for this creole dish can be found by
clicking here.

Clearly there were evil spirits about.
After half-time a strange chill was felt by all in the room..
Teeth chattered.
We donned additional clothing as the radiators failed to radiate.
Fortunately John discovered the reset button on the CH boiler.
Unfortunately this was not until 7 minutes past 11!
