Oh! Mary Don't You Weep...
Chord Patten:
Am / / / E7 / / / / / / / Am / / / Dm / / /A m / / / E7 / / / Am / / /
If I could I surely would.
Stand on the rock where Moses stood.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
Oh Mary, don't you weep, no more.
Oh Mary, don't you weep, no more.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Mary wore three links of chain
On every link was Jesus' name.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
One of these nights about 12 o' clock
This old worlds going to reel and rock.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
Moses stood on the red sea shore
Smote the water with a two by four.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
Old Mr. Satan he got mad.
Missed that soul he thought he had.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
Bothers and sisters don't you cry.
There'll be better times by and by
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:
God gave Noah the rainbow sign
No more water, but fire next time.
Pharoah's army got drownded
Oh Mary don't you weep.
Chorus:

Yeah! Brenda on keyboards for the intro with Bill 1.00001/a/Subsection B on fiddle, Ray on accordion ... but who's gonna do horns? Not to mention the Sousaphone. And do we have enough tambourines? And who's going to pretend to be Springsteen? Oh, yeah, I see. And how are you going to avoid giving offence to Muslims, Jains, Hindus and all other non-Judeo-Christian believers? I can see a shipload of trouble ahead. Still, if you're heart's set on it, with a bit of rehearsal, I'd say it would be sensible to aim for, say, Friday Feb 10th 2012.
I had considered asking Paul to fill the role of Brass Section by playing his kazoo...
I posted the Springsteen version merely as an example of how the melody sounds (and because I couldn't find a version by the Swan Silvertones) I don't feel we need to stick to closely to his model...
I fear no other faith (whist respecting and accepting their right to practice their chosen form of mumbo-jumbo) but admit the ancient Egyptians don't 'arf put the wind up me...
(is that your rod Aaron, or are you just pleased to see me?)
Oh so that's Bruce Spring-thingy. Paul has a Sousa - thank God I've never seen it, and he plays other windy things. I have a Kazoo. Heather has a triangle. Drum things spelt Boring or similar are often in house. Yeah we can do this. Only weak link is belief.
Chord Patten - is he any relation to Chris Patten? No relation to the idiot Chinaman, the nit Ting Pattern, eh?
